Nokia E72: a true business-class phone

The latest Nokia E72 is another BlackBerry style device from the phone manufacturing giant and it seems that Nokia wants to continue taking advantage of the growing demand for these types of smart devices in the market. The E72 is a follow-up to the E71 that was released last year and comes with a few updates like improved software and an improved camera. This one comes with a 2.36-inch 320 x 240 pixel resolution TFT screen along with a full QWERTY keyboard. The keyboard seems fine with different keys and should help with texting and emailing. The phone integrates with email clients and business systems such as Microsoft Exchange, as well as email applications such as Hotmail and Gmail. Messages can be sent and received in the form of SMS, MMS, email, and instant messaging. Also included are an optical trackpad and accelerometer sensor that make it easy to auto-rotate the user interface.

The Nokia E72 is a Symbian S60 device and runs on a 600 MHz ARM processor that guarantees high speed and response time. In addition to 128MB of RAM, the device incorporates 250MB of internal memory storage that can easily be expanded up to 16GB by using external microSD cards. The phonebook of this phone can store unlimited contact entries and fields and also keeps records of dialed, received and missed calls for a whole month. This Class32 GPRS device comes with a built-in HTML WAP 2.0 / xHTML web browser that allows users to access the mobile Internet. Wi-Fi allows the device to access any local area network or sync with a laptop or PC, while Bluetooth helps to conveniently share data between compatible devices.

The most interesting thing is that the Nokia E72 also includes a 5 megapixel camera with a resolution of 2592 x 1944 pixels and features like autofocus and LED flash. The music player that can cope with MP3, WMA, WAV, RA, AAC and M4A file formats turns out to be really versatile. Music can be enjoyed on the speaker phone or on any standard headset that can be plugged into the appropriate 3.5mm audio jack. The video player, on the other hand, can play WMV, RV, MP4, and 3GP. And the entertainment doesn’t stop there – a stereo FM radio with RDS function is also included so users can listen to their favorite radio stations.

On the inside, the Nokia N72 is just a quad-band GSM phone that also supports the tri-band 3G network. 3G enables high-speed data download over HSDPA at a speed of 10.2 Mbps. Released in October 2009, this phone is currently available in exciting color combinations of Zodium Black, Metal Gray, and Topaz Brown. Other important and useful features that have been added in this set include digital compass, document editor (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF), Flash Lite v3.0, push to talk, voice command / dialing, organizer, and the Nokia app. Maps 3.0. The standard 1500 mAh Li-Po battery turns out to be really efficient with a talk time of 6 hours and a standby time of up to 576 hours while using the device in 3G service. Considering the fact that the previous E-series models, E71 and E63, have fared quite well with the crowd, we can only hope that the E72 does a good deal.
