Oprah and Eckhart Tolle: a knowledge that cannot be put into words, a realization within oneself

During Chapter 3 of their online class on the book A New Earth, the two discussed insider knowledge.

Eckhart: “At its best, a belief is something transitory, from there you come to realize that there is no separation between you and God, between you and the Source of life, that you are one with the Source. And not you can realize that through thought. It is not a thought.”

Oprah chimed in: “Believe” (replacing Eckhart’s word “think”)

The two are very different in meaning. I love Oprah, but sometimes when she interrupts, she causes more confusion and muddies the water a bit in the process of explaining the truth.

Eckhart continued: “It is a direct realization within yourself and it is there in the gap between two thoughts…yet at a very deep level there is a knowing that cannot be put into words.”

I totally agree with Eckhart because the Bible talks about spiritual knowledge.

“We have the anointing of the Holy One and we know all things” (1 John 2:20). This speaks of the intuitive spiritual knowledge that comes from the anointing of the Holy Spirit once Christ, the hope of glory by his Spirit, dwells in you.

Jesus said that the Holy Spirit would be “in” and “with” His disciples after His resurrection to heaven (see John 14:17). This is why the Holy Spirit “speaks” and “shows us things to come” as Jesus promised (see John 16:12-13).

The apostle Paul wrote to the church about the divine knowledge that believers would have within through the spirit.

“The Spirit himself bears witness with your spirit that we are children of God” (Romans 8:16). Once a person commits his life to Christ and invites him in, the Holy Spirit responds and comes to live within his heart (see Ephesians 1:12-13), adopting them as sons and daughters into the family. of God.

Although intellectually and mentally one cannot fully comprehend it, spiritually in the depths of the womb, when the new divine life is suddenly deposited and comes to live in you, you will certainly bear witness to it and you will surely know it.

God reveals things to us by His Spirit, who searches the deep things of God (1 Corinthians 2:10).

The Holy Spirit teaches us all things as Jesus promised (John 14:26). Such truths may not always be taught “in words, as human wisdom teaches” (1 Corinthians 2:13), but truly there is a spirit in man, the inspiration of the Almighty that imparts supernatural wisdom beyond calendar years. (see Job 32:8 ).
