Ventura Homes The Rendezvous Single Story Show Home Review

The Ventura Display Home in Maddeley, called The Rendezvous, is an exceptional home in this particular display town for several reasons.

Innovative design and features are hard to find in the range of single storey show houses scattered throughout Perth, yet The Rendezvous stands out from the crowd. Sure, there are many house elements that you would expect in every 4 x 2 house and the street frontage is simple with some textured features, the only thing that keeps this house from looking very plain.

However, step into the open plan main living area and you will see why this is a home that everyone who visits Maddeley should see. The kitchen is excellent with plenty of bench space and plenty of storage space under the cupboards with the drawers being the main feature of the kitchen. Anyone who has had drawers before in place of cabinet doors knows how much more storage space is available, including much easier access to everything.

Directly from the kitchen is a dining area that is the centerpiece of the living room with the kitchen, family room, theater and outdoors branching off. The Living Room is at the heart of the house, almost entirely central and is large enough to accommodate the whole family along with a few friends. But what makes this home special is the sunken theater room that includes a bar area ready to serve both meals and theater.

At the rear of the theater are folding windows that open the full width of the theater allowing anyone who enjoys the outdoor areas access to the theater room and bar. The only thing I would have loved is if the theater doors were completely removed and the bar relocated slightly to allow for quicker access from the outside, rather than having to walk around the bar to get in and serve from the theater only . The interior decor of this theater is also great with a much darker wall paint color also covering the bulkhead. The rug and the hall make this room something special and add a bit of texture and color without going overboard.

I can imagine having a group of friends over to watch the grand final or world cup while sitting outside and enjoying a beer, and if this house was on a bigger block it would be even better if the bar service overlooked a pool, now that would be fantastic

Every other room in the house is a respectable size and with the show home version priced at $221,205, this gives you quite a bit of value for money. However, I really wish this show home was fully completed and if you take the time to tour the home you will see what I am talking about.

  • There is a large kitchen, but it does not include upper cabinets.
  • The dressing room in the master bedroom has a door that opens to height, but who wants to look at their clothes all the time. A door here would really have completed the master suite.
  • Some cabinets under the laundry bench would also have provided a little more storage space that most home buyers are looking for.

Recommendations to potential buyers:

  1. I would really like to know what the acoustics are like in the theater before I buy this house. If you’re serious, I’d recommend asking the sales consultant to close the bi-fold windows and turn the volume up to ‘theater’ levels and see if there’s any impact with sound bouncing off the glass. If that’s okay, then great.
  2. Adding tall cabinets in the kitchen will really make a world of difference to the overall presentation of the house. Kitchens must have a surprise, and this is the only thing missing.
  3. Eliminate the characteristic niches in the hallways. Trust me, if you have something to hang on the wall, it will look good without the niche. If you don’t have something, or you have something that isn’t the right size, it’s going to look terrible.
